Back by popular demand in honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month!
Join us again for Chanel Happy Hour and women empowerment to raise awareness about the medical research gender gap.
We will be back at the Atelier Beauté Chanel on Thursday March 5th at 6:30pm for a happy hour event meant to empower women and raise awareness about gender based brain health search. You can get your make-up done by a Chanel professional artist, experience a personalized fragrance flight to discover your favorite perfume; and sip champagne, all for a great cause.
Female patients, caregivers, researchers, and doctors; women are impacted by diseases differently than men, and women are treated differently in the day to day life too. Two-thirds of Alzheimer’s patients are women, and not enough studies focus on the gender differences. 66 % of caregivers are women. Only 30% of world’s researchers are women, but they are paid less for their research and they on average do not progress as far as men in their careers. Women general practitioner doctors are getting payed 18 percent less than men, while women specialist doctors earn between 36 to 50 percent less than men in comparable positions. Despite these inequities, women continue to lead innovation and ground-breaking research. The last year helped set up serious milestones for feminism. There are still plenty of gender gaps in brain health, and you can help the movement by raising awareness.
Because women tend to live longer and possess superior verbal communications, mixed-gender research studies for Alzheimer’s dementia lead to biases in the research. New studies add more evidence on biological and social factors that may affect women differently. We are supporting studies that look into the gender differences, and your contributions can make a difference. If the cause is important to you, you can make a donation here.
Join us for happy hour to celebrate women history month.
